Every year, beginning in 1985, a small group of class members has been chosen from applications submitted by interested Brownsville citizens to participate in the Leadership Brownsville program. These class members represent a cross-section of the community.
Over a period of nine months, the class members are given access to the inner workings of Brownsville. They have the opportunity to speak with the leaders of the community and to see how Brownsville works.

HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
Explore the various health and human service available within our community from our hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and other medical facilities.
Have a chance to see what it takes to put the news out each day. During this session, class members also learn about the environment and how the city responds to emergencies.
An opportunity to learn about our public, charter and private education systems and higher education.
Behind the scenes view of local, state, and federal levels of law enforcement.
An inside look at what your elected City and County officials do for the City of Brownsville, with an opportunity to ask them questions. Plus, a look at some of our heritage museums.
The class will visit the state capital and interact with various legislators and have access to an in depth look at the innerworkings's of policy making in Texas. (Overnight Stay)
